Jefferson City's Capitol Avenue transforms Friday to prepare for Carnival Land. The carnival is part of the city's Salute to America celebration, and event-goers can begin riding rides today at 11 a.m. The carnival runs through Monday evening.

Crewe photographer scoops TripAdvisor award

Jonathan scooped the prize because he has submitted more photographs to TripAdvisor in the past 12 months than anyone else in the UK. The awards, dubbed “The Ollies” after the TripAdvisor mascot Ollie the Owl, recognises the individual TripAdvisor members who made the most contributions to the site in 2015 across eight different award categories, with awards given to travellers at a world, continent and country level.

Plenty of eyebrows were raised when the police-escorted motorcade carrying President Xi Jinping i on his arrival in Manila stopped at the lobby of a decades-old hotel far from the city’s business centre of Makati. The Century Park Hotel was little known even to the press officers of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, who had to look it up on the internet in response to media requests.

Carnival Sends Two Ships to China

Carnival Cruise Line has announced plans to commit two ships to the China cruise market: Carnival Miracle and Carnival Splendor. Both ships will be based in China year-round, with Carnival Miracle to begin China sailings in spring 2017 and Carnival Splendor to begin in spring 2018.
