Northwest Farm Credit Services plans a $6.1 million remodel of the former Ambassadors Group building, according to city records. Yost, Mooney & Pugh Construction, the contractor, will update the building for Northwest Farm Credit Services’ new headquarters at 2001 S. Flint Road.

Strong season for tourism in region

Aided by a better economy, lower gas prices and balmier weather than in past summers, Fairfield County tourism venues are reporting a strong summer season in 2015 with a few weeks to go before the de facto end of the season with the resumption of school in advance of Labor Day. Employment in Connecticut’s hospitality sector was up 3.5 percent in June from a year earlier, an increase that trailed only the construction sector’s 8 percent year-over-year surge among major industries statewide.

Developers of a new hotel planned for International Drive have revamped their construction plans, including reducing the number of rooms and parking spaces. The original proposal, which called for 749 rooms on the 5.6-acre site, had received unanimous approval from Orlando commissioners in August.

Tripping.com Raises $16 Million To Be The Kayak For Long-Term Rentals

Tripping.com , a search engine for long-term rental properties, has secured $16 million in new funding to build out its one-stop shop for vacation homes. While a variety of hotel booking platforms, as well as Airbnb, have the short-term vacation rental space covered, Tripping is geared toward longer trips, with an average stay of just over a week.

Carnival settles US claims of disability discrimination

The world’s largest cruise provider and the Justice Department announced a settlement Thursday regarding access for people with disabilities on 62 ships in the Carnival, Holland America and Princess Cruises brands. Miami-based Carnival Corp. will pay a civil penalty of $55,000 to the government and $350,000 in damages to individuals harmed by past discrimination, the government announced.
