Cuban Americans protest exclusion from Carnival Cuban cruise

Some Cuban Americans are complaining that Carnival Corporation is unfairly excluding them from sailing with the company when the cruise line heads to Cuba for the first time in decades. The Adonia will leave Miami and head to Havana on May 1 and will travel every two weeks with stops in Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.

Carnival Cruise Ships Now Headed To Cuba

“US cruise line Carnival said Wednesday it has begun taking reservations for its first US-to-Cuba cruise in more than half a century, confident the government will give it the required permits. It has scheduled the cruise for May 1-7, with the objective of promoting cultural exchanges between the former Cold War adversaries.”

Cruise ship passengers evacuated

A number of passengers and crew members were evacuated after smoke was spotted billowing from the front section of a cruise ship docked in the Dutch Caribbean nation of St Maarten. Carnival Cruise Line spokesman Vince Gulliksen said an overheated bearing caused smoke to emerge from the front section of the Carnival Liberty.
