When Orlando Ashford took his first-ever cruise a few days after becoming president of Holland America Line in 2014 he noticed the onboard disco was mostly empty. Then he mused that decades after John Travolta danced in Saturday Night Fever , it was still called a disco.

Marriott International wants to keep the large majority of brands of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide , the CEO of Stamford-based Starwood told hotel owners, following Marriott’s $12.2 billion acquisition of Starwood slated to be completed mid-year. In a February 4 letter to hotel owners following January’s Americas Lodging Investment Summit in Los Angeles, Starwood CEO Thomas Mangas said he believes “most, if not all” Starwood brands will survive the combination.

Tripadvisor Inc (NASDAQ:TRIP) Receives Consensus Rating of "Hold" from Brokerages

Tripadvisor Inc has been given an average rating of “Hold” by the twenty-eight research firms that are presently covering the firm, Marketbeat.com reports . Three analysts have rated the stock with a sell rating, eighteen have given a hold rating and five have assigned a buy rating to the company.

Carnival settles US claims of disability discrimination

The world’s largest cruise provider and the Justice Department announced a settlement Thursday regarding access for people with disabilities on 62 ships in the Carnival, Holland America and Princess Cruises brands. Miami-based Carnival Corp. will pay a civil penalty of $55,000 to the government and $350,000 in damages to individuals harmed by past discrimination, the government announced.
