Royal Caribbean Cruises has announced plans to build a new terminal at PortMiami that will serve as homeport to Royal Caribbean International ships, including one of the world's largest passenger ships. The cruise line announced an agreement Tuesday with Miami-Dade County to build the new terminal on land leased from the county.

Carnival Corp. & PLC posted dramatically higher profits in the second quarter, fueled in part by increases in ticket prices and onboard revenue as well as lower costs, the company said Tuesday. The world's largest cruise company, based in Doral in Miami-Dade County, reported a near tripling of net income of $605 million, or 80 cents per share, up from $222 million, or 29 cents per share, a year earlier.
